Getting the Message Across

My brother sent me this photo of today's page in his 2012 Green Bay Packers Desk Calendar:

Now if they would only tell the NFL...

Fantastic! Do I get royalties?
So is it just that the NFL only wants to recognize the year they joined, not the year they were founded? And has anyone from the team ever explained why they seem to use the two dates interchangeably on their merchandise?

It's my experience that the NFL does emphasize the 1921 date, especially with respect to the merchandise produced under a league-wide contract.

The Packers use 1919 for their anniversary celebrations (at least since 1993), and if you're seeing that on merchandise it's likely to be something they were involved with, rather than the NFL.
